Since starting my oil painting journey at the age of seven, I still strive to feed the curiosity of a life- long learner. This has given me the opportunity of living in Europe for 13 years for a closer study of Art History. There I learned, under the guidance of the abstract painter Olle Carlstrom, the technique of using egg oil tempera with oil glazes and to formulate my own paints, as well as the use of palette knives to create texture. Egg oil tempera was a practice used by the Medieval and Renaissance painters to create luminosity in their work.
The Surrealist use of symbolism has always fascinated me and influenced my paintings to challenge me in the most exciting ways. Unexpected elements come together to form a narrative which lends itself different interpretations for each observer.
Sharing my paintings bring me joy, especially when they invoke thought and curiosity.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My love of both the natural world and painting create the perfect balance in my work. I want to share with my viewers the experience of joy, wonderment, and appreciation of our living surroundings, especially in these challenging times.
A game of pool symbolizes human contact and movement. The balls collide/meet, then separate, sometimes helping others to find their pocket. On a metaphysical level, the sphere shape represents unity, integrity, and completeness. See Terri's available work here.

Seattle artist Connie Glinsmann is a mixed media artist who creates abstract art and jewelry inspired by her own experiences and the people she meets. Her art is created from found objects, unique papers, and three-dimensional curiosities that attract her artist’s eye. Some of her favorite found items have been recovered from parking lots and constructions sites. The process of gathering her materials and learning new art techniques is an important part of her artistic practice.
Glinsmann has been a professional artist for over 15 years. During her career she has participated in various juried art shows in Texas, her home for most of this time, and helped run a successful local artist co-op.

I never want to know too much about what I doing. I would rather fumble, stumble and play with line, form and color relationships where I emphasize creativity over skills.
I am at my best as an artist when I collaborate rather than try to control my materials, and if I’m lucky a language develops between me and my work.

I am at my best as an artist when I collaborate rather than try to control my materials, and if I’m lucky a language develops between me and my work. I don’t always know where I’m going but trust that I’ll get there. My practice of making art is also a vehicle for tapping onto a deeper consciousness that where I can step outside of my day-to-day reality and shake hands with the unknown.
Experimentation, spontaneity and curiosity are my guides, passion is my fuel.

Inspired by scenes, colors, and experiences from life in the Pacific Northwest, my work evokes
joy and serves to remind us that we can find joy every day, even when times are hard. To me,
joy is an optimism of spirit we all carry within us that can be sparked through our actions.
My paintings, which are held in private collections around the world, have been part of solo and
group exhibits in museums and galleries in Seattle, Washington DC, and more, including the
prestigious Phillips Collection and Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. I earned an MFA in Visual
Arts at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, MA from GWU, and BA from Davidson College. With
my parents, I immigrated to the States from England when I was a wee toddler. I am married to
a retired U.S. Marine, Tom, and we live in Seattle with our beloved senior rescue Golden Retriever, Tobson.
