My first realization of drawing was when I was five years old. I came to the States when I was six years old, culture shocked and tamed right after a taste of crispy bacon, Soul Train, Schoolhouse Rock, and Jell-O pudding commercials. I was always absorbed from making things fun to do with arts and crafts. I was trained at The Art Institute of Seattle in the Fashion Illustration and Graphic Design program and graduated in 1986.
As an illustrator from the beginning, it takes time to have a detailed work presented. I wanted to explore other formats in the art field. The focus on everyday life and love wasn't enough to be fulfilled and there was something missing. I have been searching for that missing piece in life. In 2015, finding the passion again reignited a love to a new interest to express myself. I've worked in the fashion industry in New York City in the mid-'90s, started a dog biscuit company in 2012 and got into interior decorating my home with an idea of an art on the wall. The idea of a painting on my wall started something magical! For all these years, art and design has been with me. I just needed to embrace it.
I've always loved going into museums and galleries, even looking at my surroundings for inspiration. I picked up a brush just to see where I am going with it. Testing myself, abstract art came out. My interest sparked a rebirth in 2015. A foundation of curiosity of exploring and experimenting on canvas. It turned into an obsessive addiction to create. My mind was whirling and even in sleep mode, the graphic ideas came out. This exploration of my art experiments will turn into a cohesive style of my own.
