Current work available at Fogue Studios: Roz Sobel (foguestudios.com)
Originally a New Yorker, Roz Sobel now splits her time between the Seattle area and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she became inspired by the local artist community to pursue something creative in retirement.
Without any formal art training, Roz began to paint 4 years ago. She was attracted primarily to intuitive abstract techniques that incorporate a wide variety of textures, including mixed media with acrylics and inks, and oil with cold wax. Roz's art often reflects the essence of places where she has lived or discovered during her travels. Roz’s work incorporates three key elements: Color, Texture and Soul. Despite her nearly all black wardrobe which she can’t seem to shirk from her NYC days, Roz's art is rich in Color across a wide range of palettes. She is “obsessed” with Texture in both her acrylic and cold wax with oil pieces, which she achieves through layering and a wide variety of mediums, stencils, and mark-making.
