I began taking the process of creating seriously around 2018. I made a piece as a gift of remembrance for a close friend. They were taken with the piece and began to urge me forward. I incorporate Wood, textiles, twine, wire and acrylic paint to develop the shapes and forms. my background as a film technician and photographer pushed myself in wanting to capture a still frame of movement or a moment and create that in a different interpretation of how I see it. I find myself in a place where I never expected to be. I have been nomadic in my life experiences, seeking what lies down the next road….. So here I am.
Mark Sudmeier lived in Seattle in the Late 70’s and early 80’s working as a fish monger, silk screener and photographer’s assistant. Bozeman, Montana called, where he graduated with a degree in film Production. The mid 80’s, early 90’s found him in Los Angeles as a grip/electrician/ best boy on numerous feature films. The mountains of Colorado beckoned him to open a successful photography business for 11 years. California called once again where life took a different path of non-art inspired work but the urge to create was always there… His curiosity of creating has always been there, he just found himself having to dig a bit deeper to unwrap the reward.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work.
