I have been an artist most of my life. My primary work includes ceramics and wire mesh creations. I am currently combining my ceramics and wire mesh into mixed media sculptures.
1 Ceramics Studio I create ceramic art that celebrates geometric shapes and botanic forms. I am a ceramicist and clay slab artist.
2 Black Steel Wire Mesh Studio. I create pendant lights, sculptures and jewelry made out of this commercial wire mesh which is molded into art. I clean and then coat the wire mesh to prevent rusting. It is then manipulated with my hands and a round steel ball to give the art elegantly curved shapes.
I was born in Olympia, Washington but have spent most of my life in Sammamish, Washington. I received a BA in Art History from Western Washington University, MA in Arts Management from University of Illinois and M ARCH in Architecture from the University of Washington. My careers have included being a City Arts Director, an Architect and a Professional Photographer. These careers have inspired me to become a fulltime creator of art. I have also been fortunate to have been mentored by the following three Northwest artists. Lanny Bergner, Wire Mesh Mixed Media artist from Anacortes, Washington. Eric Boyer, Steel Wire Mesh Artist from Port Townsend, WA and Marilynn Moore, Handmade wire mesh artist from Seattle, Washington. My newest mentor is the infamous ceramicist Carol Gouthro from Seattle.
I like making art with my hands and the process of making art. The work emerges from my fingertips to my hands and beyond.
